Peter Mannos is undeniably a true Northern Illinois University legend, revered for his outstanding goalkeeping prowess during his four campaigns (1972-1975) under head coach Dave Bucher. A two-time First Team All-American goalkeeper in 1974 and 1975, Mannos set multiple school records that still stand today. He is credited with an incredible NIU-record 439 saves in 41 career starts. He also holds the school records for most saves in a single match (28 against Southern Illinois-Edwardsville in 1974) and most saves in a single season (147 in 1974). His exceptional play led to him being voted NIU team co-captain and MVP in 1975, and he was deservedly inducted into the Northern Illinois University Athletic Hall of Fame in 1985. After his stellar collegiate career, Mannos went on to play professionally in the NASL and MISL.
