Simon Garner is more than just a player; he is a permanent fixture in the history of Ewood Park. Between 1978 and 1992, he racked up a staggering 192 goals in all competitions, a record that remains unbroken to this day. Garner was the spearhead of the attack during the club’s rise from the old Third Division back to the brink of the top flight. Interestingly, despite his lethal finishing, Garner was famously a “heavy smoker” during his playing days, often lighting up in the dressing room—a far cry from the sports science of the modern Premier League era!
A fan favourite for his loyalty and clinical nature, he famously scored a crucial goal in the 1992 play-off semi-final against Derby County, helping to pave the way for the club’s return to the big time just as the Jack Walker era was beginning. After retiring from the professional game, Garner famously spent time working as a postman in Berkshire, proving that even legends aren’t afraid of a hard day’s graft. This T-shirt is the perfect way to show your appreciation for the man who was simply “The King” of Blackburn.
