The “McFratm” Legacy: Upon arriving in Naples, McTominay was quickly dubbed “McFratm” (Neapolitan for “brother”) by the local fans, a nickname so popular that the club reportedly trademarked it for official merchandise.
History Maker: Alongside Billy Gilmour, McTominay became the first Scottish player to win a Serie A title in 120 years, following in the footsteps of Jack Diment and James Squair who achieved the feat with Juventus in 1905.
The “Bottle Opener”: He earned the nickname “apribottiglie” (The Bottle Opener) from Italian media due to his remarkable habit of scoring the opening goal in matches, including a strike just 26 seconds into his Serie A home debut against Como.
Record Equaliser: In his debut season (2024/25), McTominay scored 12 league goals, equalling the club record for the most prolific debut season by a midfielder, previously held by the legendary Marek Hamšík.
League MVP: His impact was so profound that he was officially crowned the Serie A Player of the Season (MVP) for 2024/25, leading the team in both goals and distance covered as they secured the Scudetto.
