Ollie Rathbone arrived at Wrexham in the summer of 2024 as a statement signing for the club’s return to League One, joining from Rotherham United for a substantial fee. Quickly dubbed “The Engine” by fans, he is renowned for his relentless pressing and ability to cover every blade of grass at the Racecourse Ground. Interestingly, football is in the blood for Ollie; his father, Mick “Baz” Rathbone, was also a professional footballer and a well-known physiotherapist in the game. Before joining the Hollywood-backed revolution in North Wales, Ollie was a key figure in Rotherham’s promotion to the Championship and won the EFL Trophy at Wembley. His arrival in Wrexham was seen as a vital step in adding Championship-level grit and experience to Phil Parkinson’s squad as they continue their meteoric rise through the football league.
