Josef “Pepi” Bican is an immortal legend at Slavia Prague, where he spent the most dominant period of his career from 1937 to 1948 (returning again later). His goalscoring records are simply astonishing:
He is credited by the RSSSF (Rec.Sport.Soccer Statistics Foundation) with scoring over 950 goals in his official career, placing him amongst the most prolific scorers in history.
For Slavia Prague alone, he scored a phenomenal 591 goals in 301 official games across his career at the club.
In one incredible league season (1943–44), Bican scored a mind-boggling 57 goals in just 26 matches for Slavia.
He won the Czechoslovak First League title five times with the club and was the league’s top scorer an astonishing ten times during his time at Slavia.
He was also awarded the “Golden Ball” in 2000 for being the greatest goalscorer of the 20th century, cementing his status as a true footballing giant.
