Billy Bonds is widely considered one of the greatest players in West Ham United’s history, embodying the grit, determination, and spirit of the club. He holds the all-time club record for appearances, having played a staggering 799 times for the Hammers over an incredible 21-year career. Bonds famously captained the side to two FA Cup victories, lifting the trophy in 1975 against Fulham and again in 1980 against Arsenal, making him the only West Ham captain to achieve this feat. Originally a full-back who successfully transitioned into midfield and later central defence, his uncompromising style and leadership made him a hero at Upton Park, eventually earning him an MBE for his services to the game.
