Hibbert holds a unique place in Everton folklore, largely due to his incredible record of never scoring a competitive goal in over 300 first-team appearances. This led to the famous fan chant and banner: “If Hibbert scores, we riot.” Remarkably, the “riot” actually happened in 2012 during his testimonial match against AEK Athens; when Hibbert curled in a low free-kick, the Goodison Park faithful jubilantly invaded the pitch to celebrate with their hero. Outside of football, Tony is famously an avid carp fisherman, even owning his own fishery in France—a hobby as unassuming and dedicated as his playing style.
